Re: Your local folklore and ruins
The major attraction in my area is almost always the stories regarding the Tin and Burned Towers, and the Pokemon attached to those locations.
However, I preferred to take another route in my personal studies - that of the Pokemon that were not so fortunate as to be brought back to life - Ghost types.
I've written down my ideas as they occur to me, collected here: The Origins of Ghost Pokemon
An excerpt:
Speculation abound! Although I must say I prefer the mystery behind it all.
Unless the truth is far more strange than I imagine, I think I'd rather just remain in the dark.

Since clear lines of communication between humans and
pokemon is shaky at best, it has been difficult in
understanding the nature of the past lives of the ghosts.
Strong Psychic-type pokemon with telepathic abilities have
shed a little bit of light on the subject, but are
unwilling for the most part, to do this. The minds of the
dead are, by their very nature, dangerous and
unpredictable places to roam. It quite often traumatizes
the most veteran of pokemon.

I spent the beginning of my childhood in Blackthorn City, then moved to Lavender Town. B
When I started living on my own, I moved to a town that the elders claim was the location of one of the final clashes between Groudon and Kyogre before they went to sleep, and afterwards, the Pokemon and people that were still there remained there, and a civilization formed over time. It's quite interesting, though I'm not sure how much truth there is too it.
I research mythology, so I often travel for that reason and look forward to what other people have to post.

Thanks for the contributions so far. I'll be sure to do a bit of looking into what truth might be behind the stories.
